Simul uses an established protocol developed by Microsoft in order to safely transfer documents from Word to our version control system.
This communication occurs via the Internet and is subject to connection loss and other potential interferences. Because of this, Microsoft Word will not consider the document as saved unless it receives a response from Simul. In the event Word is closed and it is unable to confirm your document has been saved to Simul, you can follow the appropriate steps for your operating system.
In the unlikely event you have closed Word and your revision does not appear in Simul, it is most likely pending upload in the Microsoft Office Upload Center. You can gain access to your document by opening the Upload Center from your task bar or by searching Office Upload Center in your start menu:
Your document should be listed like so:
Select “Save a copy” to save the document locally. This can then be uploaded into Simul as described here: Upload a document.
In the unlikely event you have closed Word and your revision does not appear in Simul, it is most likely listed as a “pending upload”.
To access this document, select “Recent” when opening a document. If you have not quit Word completely then you can simply open the file and attempt to save again. If your Simul session has expired, you can click the warning icon and select “Save a copy”
You can then upload the local copy into Simul as described here: Upload a document.
It’s also worth noting that you can unlock the revision in Simul before closing Word to receive confirmation that Simul is aware of your updates:
